Our congregation serves the meal at the Community Cafe in Sedalia on the second Monday of each month. This free meal is typically served to between 40 and 90 people. Our normal menu is goulash, green beans, buttered bread, peaches, and dessert (usually cake or brownies).
Community Organizations Supported
Annually the congregation votes on community organizations to support with monetary donations throughout the year. During 2017, the congregation plans to support the following organizations with monetary donations -
Open Door Ministries
CASA (milk fund)
Habitat for Humanity
Summer Food Program
Our congregation is providing volunteers at Vermont Park for the Summer Food Program. Any child up to 18 years old can eat a free meal at noon. Meals are also available at Liberty Park, Centennial Park, some mobile home parks, and other locations in the community.
The Sedalia congregation makes a yearly donation to Outreach International. Outreach International helps in times of crisis but their main goal is to help people help themselves. They are involved in building schools, digging wells, providing farm animals for families, and a variety of other efforts throughout the world.
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me,
I was in prison and you visited me.' Matthew 25:35-36
